Family financial relief

The following members of the family team have expertise in ancillary relief applications where the assets range from low value to high values involving companies, partnerships and property. Their experience also extends to claims under the Inheritance (Provision For Family and Dependants Act) 1975.

Similar issues to those in cohabitation disputes arise in family financial relief proceedings when intervenors (such as mortgagees, trustees in bankruptcy or third party owners of the former matrimonial homes) claim to have an equitable interest in the property. Members of our civil team are able to assist in these disputes (see under Cohabitation).

Cohabitation

The financial affairs of those who live together but are not married require special consideration and can become legally complicated.

Counsel from our civil team are experienced in assessing the merits of a party's claim to a beneficial interest in any property, business or in chattels owned by the parties, and taking these matters up to and through trial. Their experience also extends to claims under the Inheritance (Provision For Family and Dependants Act) 1975

Dissolution of civil partnerships

As well as acting in matrimonial disputes, our family lawyers are fully familiar with the nature and effect of the Civil Partnership Act 2004 and can provide the same level of expertise in those cases as we do in matrimonial disputes.
